Man Fights Bank of America and Wins

Michael Mosteller of Alum Creek fell victim to Bank of America when they tripled his interest rate for no apparent reason. He was never behind on payments, never missed a payment and never went over the limit on his account. He called Bank of America and nobody could give him a straight answer, and everyone he spoke to said he could not get his original lower interest rate back. He wrote his congressional leaders and even made a phone call to Ron Paul’s office, and was in the process of contacting the attorney general’s office when his rate mysteriously went back to its original 8% with no explanation as to why it changed again. Now, he’s urging anyone else who has fell vicim to this fraudulent business practice to follow in his steps and contact your attorney general’s office and your congressional leaders. Awkward Moments

- When you’ve already said goodbye to someone before a long trip or even to leave somewhere for good, but you end up having to come back moments later for something you forgot. The original goodbye loses all of its sentimental value. Awkward!

- When you’re walking down a long hallway and someone you know is approaching from the other end. What can you do after the initial wave? You can’t really yell all the way down at them, and it’s kind of creepy to just smile the whole time until they get close enough for a conversation. Eeh. Time to pretend-check your cell phone or tie your shoe.

- When you come out of the store and you feel the eyes of a charity collector burning into you as you try to get to your car, except even if you did want to donate, all you have is a credit card. You can’t make eye contact, or it’s all over. This would be a perfect time to engage your cloaking device if you have one.

- When you’re driving and some idiot cuts you off, you get next to him and give the finger, he gives you the “what the hell is your problem?!” look, and then the upcoming light turns red. Now you have to sit next to each other for the next 90 seconds, and, unless you’re the type to get out of your car and punch his window out, just pretend to press buttons on the radio until the light turns green. Extra fun bonus: See how many CD tracks you can fast-forward through while he/she stares at you.

- When you’re walking your dog and she stops to poop in the only yard whose owners are sitting on the front porch. Hopefully you brought a bag with you or you’re not gonna be a huge hit with the neighbors…

- When you’re visiting someone and the only photo they have of you features you in the exact same clothes you’re wearing.

- When you have a mild road rage incident with someone, only to find out they work with you or live on your street.

- When you profess your undying hate for a given profession or sport, and someone in your group is a diehard practitioner of said activity. Oops.

- When your young child tries out some newfound curse words at a crowded store or social function. “But daddy’s allowed to say it!”

The Best Debt Negotiation Companies

What should you expect from the best debt negotiation companies?

The best debt negotiation companies can work with basically anyone to reduce the amount of their debt. By negotiating with collection agencies and creditors to reduce the amount of debt, clients are able to settle their debt for 30 – 70% of the original balance. Other forms of debt elimination simply move the debt from an unsecured card, to a secured asset. This lowers the interest rate, which is a good thing. But it doesn’t eliminate the debt. Its still there, but now its against your home or other hard asset.

Look for a company that is always looking out for their clients. They are members of the Better Business Bureau, or of an organization like the Consumer Recovery Network. These companies will make sure that their clients become debt free in the shortest possible time.

Make sure you ask plenty of questions. Become an informed consumer.

The best debt negotiation companies won’t make promises they have no way of keeping. They cannot “guarantee” that they will be able to arrange reductions in the balance of all of your debt. Some creditors just won’t deal. While most credit card debt can be reduced substantially, there are creditors that simply will not budge. Many debts can be settled for pennies on the dollar, in fact most – but by no means, all. I’m just being honest here.

A knowledgeable company wont tell you to completely break off all contact with your creditors. I’ve actually talked to clients who had worked with programs that told them to tell the creditor to never call them again. The problem with this strategy is that it leaves the creditor very little options for collecting the debt. It will most likely speed up the process of legal action. While it may be advisable to tell your creditors to not call you at work, you certainly don’t want to break off contact entirely. Keep the lines of communication open. It makes it much easier to resolve the debt.

The best debt negotiation companies won’t guarantee that they will be able to remove information from your credit report, when that information is perfectly accurate. Many collection agencies, and creditors, will remove information after they are paid. They really have no vested interest in leaving it there. Why would they care, they have their money. So negotiating that the creditors listing be removed or altered as a part of the settlement works in a large number of cases, but not 100 percent of the time.

The caveat to this, is that you may only need to remove a couple of negative accounts to raise your score to an acceptable level. So you may not need to remove 100 percent of the negative data to have a positive effect.

The best debt negotiation companies will give you the costs up front.

Professional help with debt negotiation can be a tremendous asset in alleviating problem debt. These companies can also cause a number of problems. If you have decided to negotiate, eliminate and settle your debt, the best debt negotiation companies are the best place to start.

Critical Cover

iPad 2 covering acute awning protects advanced & back

This video is just a quick video I threw up using my Droid X phone. It was done on the fly so I could show some friends. The cover is really good as it is a full cover that protects not only the front of the camera but the back of the camera as well. Its also a smart cover that puts your ipad 2 into sleep mode when you close it and wakes it when you open it. The only draw back to the cover is that its hard to get to the screen locking/mute button and volume controlls as the case conflics with the design of the ipad with those buttons. They should have cut it out a little more. Still, the case is pretty solid and only sells for $12.50. Where they get you is with shipping which ranges anywhere from 9 dollars to i think around 30 something. USPS, DHL, FED EX, UPS is offered. I chose UPS paid an extra 21 and some odd dollars and got my case in about a week. It ships from China, and uses pay pal and some other payments, no credit card that I saw.

How the APR, or Annual Percentage Rate Works with Credit Cards

One of the most important factors when deciding which credit card to choose is a comparison of the APR, or Annual Percentage Rate. This is the cost of credit, the actual interest rate, determined on an annual basis and expressed as a yearly rate. By comparing the APR of credit cards, you can determine which card will cost you most, barring fees such as late payment charges, ATM fees, or cash advance charges. The APR offers a standardized way to compare yearly interest rates, whether the interest is computed on a daily, monthly, or yearly basis.

Under the federal Truth in Lending Act, credit card companies must provide you with information about the APR. If you understand the APR, you have a better chance of making your money work for you. When it comes to calculating the APR, you will have to do a little math, but it is well worth the effort to know exactly where you stand, financially speaking.

If you look at your credit card statement, you’ll find that the finance charge, interest, is expressed both as a periodic rate and an annual percentage rate. If you divide the annual percentage rate by 12, you will come up with the monthly periodic rate. It is important to recognize that when you sign up for a credit card, you are signing a contract. If you understand how the interest on your account is calculated, you are much more likely to use your credit card wisely.

There are other things you need to know about the APR. Your card may, in fact, carry different APRs for various transactions. For instance, regular purchases might be subject to an APR of 16 percent, while cash advances carry an APR of 19 percent. Also, if your card has a variable rate, it can be altered throughout the year. You should consider reading your credit card agreement and talking to a customer service representative to find out more information about your card’s APR.

You should also consider selecting a card with an APR that is appropriate to your needs.

For example, if you are able to pay your balance in full at the end of the month, select a card with a low annual fee. In such a situation, you can afford a card with a higher APR, since you will not be carrying a balance. However, if you will not be able to pay off your balance at the end of the month, select a card with a lower APR.

You can also use the APR to your own personal advantage. If you carry a balance on your credit card, pay more each month. That way, even if you face a high APR, you can minimize the interest you pay on the card. It’s important to recognize that, if you only pay the minimum balance each month, you will have to pay more interest. It will also take you longer to pay off your debt.
